Forms and money must be submitted within ninety (90) days of the last class meeting in order to receive clock hours.  If a request is made for appeal of the ninety (90) day deadline, a letter or email must be sent to:
NWESD

Anacortes, WA 98221
Letters of appeal must explain why application could not have been made within the ninety (90) day period immediately following the class. Letters must also include session number (inservice or course #), name of course and all dates of course.  Dr. Jenkins' decisions are final.

$5 Search fee for classes ending before June 1, 2004:
To request clock hours for classes that ended before 6/1/04, $5 fee must be submitted, along with the in-service number before the search can be conducted.  If an attendance sheet signature is not located, clock hours cannot be awarded (and the $5 fee is forfeited).

Can I apply for clock hours as an individual if the workshop I'm attending doesn't offer them?

No, clock hour proposals must be completed at least 15 days before the first class meeting by a representative of the entity offering the course.

I took a class that offered CEU's (Continuing Education Units)  instead of CECH (Continuing Education Clock Hours).  Do CEU's count the same as CECH credits?

No, they are not considered the same.  "Units" are not acceptable as clock hour credits in the Washington State Educational System.

Who should I contact about whether I need clock hours to renew my teaching certificate?

You should call or email Sally Pagh, Certification Specialist, at 360-299-4022, or spagh@nwesd.org. She will need your certificate number or your name and date of birth to look up information about your certificate.  See the Certification page of our website for further information.

Do I need to be fingerprinted to earn clock hours?

No, but fingerprinting is required of all individuals who have regular, unsupervised access to children, including those seeking certificates and those employed in a certified or classified position.  See the Fingerprinting page on our website.
